I hate to be a naysayer and contradict the rave reviews below, but I have been to Medican five times in the last few weeks and each time have been only moderately impressed.
I'll start with what I like: the atmosphere is really nice, low light and couches make this a very relaxing sight as you walk in. The selection is also always good, ranging from 10-20 a strain, with a decent variety. Also, the staff (depending on who you get) are usually really nice and helpful. Also, the $10 grams are always decent, and that price beats most dispensaries. I have gotten a free joint, which is always appreciated, as well as being allowed to roll my own joint in store with their shake plate. They have one damn cute dog to keep you company, too. That is, if he isn't banished to the back for sniffing at the counters.


What I don't like: ALMOST NOTHING IS CURED PROPERLY! Yes, they have a nice variety, and most of the bud looks nice (especially magnified under an LED), but for me, taste and smell are KEY to the best bud. Jacky White, Chemdawg, and the other lovely offerings at Medican are crippled by poor curing. You will notice that most strains are visually appealing, but have almost no smell even when you bust a jar full open. The taste is similarly disappointing, especially considering the alternatives.

Another turn off was the dealer-turned-patient/dealer types I have often seen in here. I had one kid gleefully tell me in line how much money he made re-selling an ounce from Medican to his friends, and I pretty much wanted to scream. This is not about money, god-damnit, and you shouldn't be ripping your friends or anyone else off so you can get high for free. I am very much a believer that marijuana is not something to be profited from, but rather something everyone should be able to enjoy and use to their benefit without paying insane amounts for it. This is why I cannot wait for my caregiver to harvest, and eventually to grow myself: so I can get the meds I need without going broke.

If the guy below me is truly a snob, then he would've have done some more shopping and ended up with another favorite. Don't get me wrong, these guys are really nice and run a decent operation, and they will be my go-to for now if I want cheap meds by the gram, but if you are after quality there are simply much better options all over the place.

I was very pleased with my experience at medican. Big fan of the Jackywhite for only $13!! The staff was informative and friendly. Great selections... some an bit expensive but very high quality, some are a awesome bargains. You can walk out of this place having spent only $30 and have 2 different grams and 2 strong edibles! They even had some very decent blueberry/Big Bud for 10 bucks. The Sultans Hash was VERY strong and some of the best I have seen in CO. The edibles I tried were super, especially the $5 raspberry squares, and $10 pumpkin pies. This place even has tasty Ice cream. When I was there I was greeted by there wellness expert and gave me some great nutritional advice. WOW.. Definitely on my top 3 for all DENVER BOULDER area. Also open Sunday which works great for me. Took about 5 min to get service but well worth the wait. Im a fan.

Medican on the Hill is located on University Hill in the lobby of the old Flatiron movie theater. The dispensary is very warm and inviting and has a lounge-like feel with couches, music and artwork.

I found the staff to be very hospitable and helpful with selecting the proper medicine. The strain selection is very extensive and they usually have 25-30 different strains to choose from. Prices range from $10 to $20 per gram so you can find a strain that fits your budget. I gave 3 stars for this reason. They also sell other medicines like edibles, tinctures, pressed kief and hash.

Since Medican is on the Hill, it is close to downtown Boulder and the local University. There are plenty of eateries and shops like Full Cycle, Albums on the Hill, The Root, The Fitter, Color the World, Freaky's, High on the Hill and others. There is street parking and two parking lots on the north and south sides of the Hill.

As of writing this review, Medican has been open for a little over a month and shows great promise as a medicinal marijuana dispensary. Check them out.

This place is AWESOME! Conveniently located right across from the Boulder PD on the hill. It looks shady from the outside, but once you get inside its really nice. Super cool staff, with a hot cool hippy blonde chick. Unparalleled quality! The main draw for me is the quality, and this place has the best quality I could find. I have been all over the front range, and this has some of my all time favorites.

The prices are REALLY high though. They need to work on that IMO. They have the top and bottom shelf, and they try to rotate the top shelf items into the bottom shelf prices which is cool. But the prices are really quite high. Be warned. If you are looking for the best nugs, this is the place.
