HMMMM
i went ysterday on the 9th. and the guy working was a complete ass. not literaly but he gave off a lot of negative energy. buds wer good. but shop was poorly set up. not legit
cool place
This dispensary deserves some credit for how attentive the staff is. Location is kinda off but Im sure its not easy for clubs to find spots to open up. There meds were top quality and the hash chocolate is well worth the money. Left here happy overall but it didnt give too many reasons to go back
Simple, friendly, superb!
Ok, I'll get the bad stuff out of the way first. Done.
:)
I loved my visit to this dispensary. I was in the area doing the paperwork for my MMIC card (finally) and decided to try it out. Unfortunately it's not convenient for me, but I'll stop every time I'm around. Here's what I like:
1.) Office environment. This place is established in a typical medical office building, and it blends right in without looking scary to people who are new to marijuana. Like one of the reviewers said below, no 'gangster' atmosphere.
2.(15) Friendly staff/owners: I sat down and talked to the two guys that were there and had the most pleasant conversation. They were cool and they were friendly. Every dispensary employee should have to watch these guys in action.
3.) Price: ok, not great, but I'm so sick of overpriced bud that just finding a place not gouging for good quality is fantastic. I'd recommend that they drop their cap $5 and spread the love around a bit more.
4.(20) Bud quality: solid, just what I'd expect. I picked up some Bubba that was grown and trimmed to perfection.
5.) First-timer bonus: Tried to give me a joint but I vape. The guy didn't miss a beat -- just handed me a beautiful and potent edible that's waiting in my bud cabinet for the right moment. :)
6.) Knowledge: The BT was the least 'polished' of the two, but he knew his stuff. Knew what different strains did for him and gave decent recommendations. I didn't really test his knowledge much, because once I saw that Bubba I was done.
So overall, a bad location for me personally but ideal for a few million of you tokers out there. Good quality meds available for slightly high donations. Friendliest service I've gotten in San Diego from knowledgeable, down-to-earth people who love this plant. Go now and you'll be happy.
Definitely a cool place.
Very nice surroundings for a dispensary.
It's in a whole area of medical buildings and old hospital buildings.
Its in a like, 10 story building, but its the very first office as you walk in, on the left.
Great selection of concentrates.
Ranged from $25/g-$60/g, with the 60 being Butane Hash Oil (honey oil). Great price imo.
The edibles were also top notch.
Large selection of interesting sodas, baked goods, and a pretty unique small chocolate that "contained 0.5 grams of hash". Having the edible in such a small package means it will hit you faster & harder, and thats a massive amount for a reasonable $15.
There was a selection of about 10-15 bud strains, one of the nugs being the one of the best purple buds I've seen (very frosty).
Verified very quickly, and got a free pre-roll for being a new patient. Not made with shwag or even mids, very dank & pretty fat.
There is no gangster atmosphere, very professional but relaxing at the same time.
Will return!
Event Horizon!
Being a Collective Owner myself, I realize how hard it is to get out and check out other collectives. When I am in La Jolla Or Point Loma I always go to Horizon Collective. The staff is Killer kool and the Meds are really good. The comment a few before this that bashes Horizon is undeserved and may be another collective---thats not cool and its a lie! Try the Pure-Salmon Creek and the hash chocolates ( super strong).
Actual Collective!!
Horizon might be the light at the end of the tunnel for us Medical Marijuana users in San Diego. I love my city and I love good meds -and recently it's been a struggle for real patients to get real meds for their real problems!
Horizon offers one of the most professional feeling settings I've ever been around in a collective. There is a good variety of prices, the collective itself actually feels like a collective. The sports arena location is actually in a medical building; surrounded by actual practices! This alone gives a very secure and legitimate vibe to patients and non-patients alike.
The staff is anything short of amazing. All employees give off an almost 'family-owned' vibe; being that they are extremely relaxed and yet, know vast amounts of information regarding the meds they are distributing. Verification is a breeze and it really seems like these guys actually try to remember who you are; furthermore radiating a welcome and positive experience.
The meds themselves are top shelf. Some of the kush's are definitely of northern decent (purple, OG) and are legitimate strains. (no bs). Always expect a variety of flowers not to mention a vast amount of edibles, tinctures, and concentrates.
This really is the only collective you need to become a part of - that is if you are looking for an easy and enjoyable experience and plenty of excellent medications. Go to either location Sports Arena (off midway) or La Jolla (right of prospect/sick view!!!)
Hope this review guides some patients in need through Horizon's doors!!!!
Takes away my pain
I grew up in Point loma and smoked weed in high school and college and then quit for 15 years. I got into a bad car accident that required several surgeries on my back. After years of pain killers not working and being prescribed a fentanyl patch I decided to try medical cannabis. Horizon had the biggest ad in the reader so I decided to check them out. To my suprise they were in a medical building and haD a professional office. The employee behind the counter seemed to know what was best for my condition. I've been smoking Horizon recommendations ever since. Its helps with my pain so much, I can actually sleep through the night. The quality of medicine works for the pain throughout my body and I recommend this shop to anyone in pain.
Only collective I visit
Horizon happened to be in the same doctors office as my actual doctor. I suffer from fibromyalgia and was on all types of pills- vicodin, norco, and finally Oxycodone because I was in so much pain. I popped into Horizon and they told me where to get my recommendation and the next time I went to my doctor, I visited their establishment. The gentlemen behind the counter answered all 100 questions with patience and explained the difference between each strain. I went with the purple durple and was able to move around and go to sleep pain free. I was no longer a zombie from all those pills. Medical marijuana has changed my life. I've only been to Horizon Collective because it so convenient and the guys are so friendly. The medicine they suggested seems to be working wonders.
Good Vibes from this place!
I recently moved down from Norcal and I'm used to good buds. Horizon had some impressive nugs, especially the purple durple and northern lights. I suffer from insomnia and smoked the purple durple and was able to fall asleep. Pretty potent strain. I smoked the northern lights during the day and was able to function and get my shit done. The guy that helped me was cool and helpful. Good people, good nugs, overall good experience. It's in an actual medical building with doctors offices and pharmacy's so I didn't feel like I was breaking the law. Horizon is legit!
AWESOME quality of medicine
I was headed out of town to see some old buddies and wanted to impress with quality meds. I hit up Horizon and was impressed with a lot of their strains. I got a 1/4 of Northern lights, 1/4 of trainwreck, 1/4 purple Kush and 1/4 of the pure. The Northern lights and Pure looked amazing with a lot of tricombs. The smoke was smooth and had me feeling good. The trainwreck and purple Kush were potent as sh#$. Each strain was top shelf quality. I go to other collectives to check out different strains and this place always has better nugs. If I want the best, I got to HORIZON COLLECTIVE. Thanks guys
Alot of Hype.
Today was my first visit to the Horizon and you have to be kidding me. This is not set up like a doctors office its more like meeting up at the corner. Not a solid vibe coming out of this estiblishment. Enough about how comfortable I felt and on to the buds... The pure is shiny but lacking bite I'm not sure if it is a strain issue or not but most of thier stains come from Mexico. And if they didn't have the pure in stock I would have just walked away. Everything else on thier menu was a pile of leaves. Thanks but no thanks I'll pass on this establishment.
Good Shop
Was in town over the wknd and needed to find some good meds. This place came recommended by a few friends in the community and i can say i was impressed. Being from SF, i am pretty picky about my medicine and i thought the selection and quality that Horizon had was up there with the best. In addition to the quality, the staff was friendly and definitely knowledgeable about the different strains. All in all, I was glad i came across it on my trip down to SD.
Finest of herbs in all of San Diego
Best of Buds and Best staff in San Diego. After having lunch at 4.0 Deli I overheard a guy working there say that "Horizon Collective" had the finest of herbs. I wish he would have told me years ago, because Horizon Collective is by far the Mecca of Medicinal Dispensaries. They have the largest selection of edibles I have ever seen, much like the guy working the counter had the biggest Nick Mangold beard I have ever seen. His beard was so big it tripped me out, I knew that from now on to only eat half an edible before going in there. The guy with the beard was more than helpful. Unlike most dispensaries when I asked him what was good he didn't reply with, everything. He immediately took out a few of his favorites and gave me a rundown on each of them. Horizon Collective has two locations in San Diego, both that are fairly easy to find. My friend said that the strands of herb are almost too potent for his little Nepolean body frame, but that doesn't stop him from going there at least two times a week to stock up on their wide variety of edibles. I have to admit that after visting Horizon Collective I will never visit another dispensary other than their two locations in San Diego. Dealing with Horizon Collective is the only way to go. I highly suggest, no pun intended, to go to Horizon Collective. Their herbs will have you listening to nothing but Hollow Tip!
Horizon aka "the Bottle on the Top Shelf"
I wish I had visited Horizon from the start when I began my journey to find a legit collectve after obtaining my recommendation. All of my ventures from Ocean Beach up to La Jolla were a waste of my time and money. First of all, Horizon brings quality Chrons to the table time after time, which I deem most important when rating a collective; but not only is this quality dosia, it's also dished out at a great price. Their staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and you do not get the feeling that you are being sheisted as some other collectives do. I've mainly been helped by some white guy with a Haaji like beard, somewhat similar in resemblance to Alan from the Hangover. He's a cool guy, but I don't want to digress too much. Back to their inventory... They have a quality selection of edibles, and if you buy a hash chocolate and they say only eat half of it at a time, listen to them. Those little guys pack a punch. My buddy Bombzo ignored this advice and ate a whole one before his flight, and he was too ripped for the flight (live and learn, I guess). Overall, their selection and quality are top notch. I normally go to their Point Loma location off of Midway drive since it's really close to me, but when I feel like treating myself, then I hit up the La Jolla Horizon on Prospect. Man, o man is this location the best in San Diego: Ocean Views, Chrons... Edibles!! This place is just like the Point Loma location with it's selection, but a stones throw away from the beautiful La Jolla ocean. It can be a little confusing to find, so be sure to call and ask for specific directions before going here; otherwise, the best collective in San Diego that I've been to by far. I refer to Horizon as the "Bottle on the Top Shelf" or the "Steroids that brought back baseball" because they are truly high quality and they re-energized my smoking experience. Enough of me talking though. I suggest stop your endless hunt for a great dispensary and go to whichever Horizon collective is closest to you. You will not be disappointed.
A top choice on the peninsula
After visiting many collectives in Southern California, I'd have to say that the quality of the medicine here is among the best I've come across. Most recently their "Pure" and "GDP" strains were phenomenal. Their strains look they were finished and cured properly, and not rushed by some newbie trying make a quick buck. The environment looks a bit like a doctors office, which is how it should look until this stuff becomes completely legal. Flat screens and leather couches don't do sh*t for my back pain. The people who work here actually know their stuff and generally seem to avoid the saying stupid stuff "everything is good" or "this is the real OG kush". The medicines are categorized as Indica and Sativa, but most importantly they are correctly categorized. It's a touch out of the way but the prices are very fair considering the quality of the medicine. High recommend.
