Description

San Diego Patient Alliance is a all "for patients by patients" medical cannabis support & activism group. We started as a small private group of San Diego co. patients and growers. Outraged by the 9-9-9 Raids in SD, we have decided to expand our little club to all Legal MMJ patients in the greater San Diego area.
Our goal is simple, "To Support and Protect the Legality, Study, and Medical Use of Cannabis EVERYWHERE". We love this plant, and are so grateful to the voters of CA for allowing us to use and grow Cannabis for the treatment of painful and debilitating medical conditions.
Unfortunately, even with the numerous facilities in California where a patient with a current recommendation can obtain medicine, it's price is often too high for most patients and doesn't meet an appropriate "Medical standard" of quality. We feel this really inhibits a patients ability to medicate properly and as often as would benefit him/her. This is a real shame since this program was instituted so sick people could feel better, not so pot entrepreneurs could make a unnecessary buck off of sick Californians! prop 215 and sb 420 don't allow collectives to be for profit, and now we are losing safe & easy access because not everyone is following the rules. There is NOTHING wrong with hard working people making good money, but it shouldn't be made off people with a medical necessity.

We are a New and Expanding Org. and intend to not only expand our Online group(Official website and pages on like sites will soon follow) but hopefully get large, live canna-activism meetings and social events going for Patients.

So Join...Get Involved...And Make Your Opinion Be Heard! There are over 800,000 Medical Cannabis Patients in California alone. Together we can take back the future of cannabis from the DEA and Government and put it back in OUR HANDS where it deserves to be.

So i had very interesting night lastnight and just wnated to share my expirence. I was in san marcos,ca actully Lake sanmarcos fishing with my buddy on our boat.the boat was on the dock tied up so it was not moving no it was going to move. these boats are more like little house boats if any one has seen them at san marcos, lake. anyways I was medicating on the boat while fishing and so was my friend. maybe some one smelled the MMJ and called the san marcos SHERIFFS department. in a matter of a few min there were 2 cars. 4 offcers. came to our boat. showed them its our boat and we are just chilling on the boat and not driving it. of course it smelled like MMJ and they asked. we dont need to lie because we are legal. we both show our paper work, plus i have a state ID. when the sherrifes saw my state ID they gave me evrything back. they saw my friend DR rec from MMEC and laughed at it! i asked why and they said your legal by the state of CA, any one can get these DR cards. SO THEY gave my friend a ticket for possing MMJ under 28grames. now he has to go to court. since MMEC has a free lawyer referal my friend called. they are taking care of it all. he was not in the WRONG. just a big hassel.... JUST SHOWS you thow........

you're welcome Dallas. And to Smiler I saw that piece to, I believe a link was posted in the Stoner Chicks group. As if passing a collective will corrupt these kids.... smh.
We have a long way to go to educate and make people at ease with the ifs, how and what of medical MJ.

That is extremely inspiring to hear that drug education in schools includes a more open and accurate attitude towards Med MJ, thanks dutchy.

The attitude and the freakin' audacity of this NBC 7/39 News segment offends me. Beginning with the title: "Where's the Weed?".

The piece was conceived and assembled to frighten or upset the people watching it. I mean, it's obvious that the intent wasn't to educate or inform anyone who saw it, or to provide them with any useful or positive information.

And that woman that was interviewed ... My God!

This 'concerned parent' says: "Some kids walk or ride their bikes to school. And they’ll pass these stores. My concern is that the marijuana stores are giving the kids the wrong message. They’re giving the kids the message that marijuana is okay."

Well first, it's good to see that the kids are out taking in a little exercise - walking and out on their bikes.

She's alarmed that these kids will "pass these stores".

Well good. They should pass 'em -- just walk on by. Anyone under 21 wouldn't be able to go in, even if they wanted to. Besides, they're supposed to be in school anyway. Keep walkin' kids.

She says what concerns her is that a marijuana store will "give kids the wrong message, that marijuana is okay".

This woman has apparently forgotten that in 1996, the voters approved the Ballot Proposition allowing citizens the right to use Medical Marijuana.

Actually, the "wrong" message happens to be the right message: "Marijuana IS okay". In many cases, people have found it medically helpful in addressing illness and for maintaining the wellbeing of many patients.

Medical Marijuana dispensaries don't pose a threat to anyone! Not children, or neighbors, or schools, or churches, temples, mosques, synagogues, donuts shops or internal cleansing parlors. Any of which, could also be not far from a Rite Aid or CVS pharmacy, but you don't see people out with torches and pitchforks, trying to run drug stores out of town!

NBC 7/39's viewers would have been better served if the station had not run any story, instead of this sleazy hit-piece!

My kids had Red Ribbon week last week, something I normally detest. I can inform my kids myself concerning alcohol and drugs, thank you. So asked what they were told and to my surprise it was actually good. In general: if you take meds (pharma just as much) that were not prescribed to you, that is not good. On the other hand they were told about medical MJ and that when it is prescribed by a docter it is very legal and ok.
SO woooow not just throw all drugs on a big heap and say NOOOO to all. And yes abuse of adhd and pain meds were discussed too.

And yes, the topic of the 1st town in CO/USA that legalized weed was a topic in Marketig class today. Our thougt was that since most people are able to have a normal life and don't let alcohol interfere with their work etc. If people can control themselves around alcohol, why wouldn't they with marijuana. WHy always the assumption everyone is gonna be doped up and stoned everyday?
Again, being Dutch.... ehhh just because there are legal coffeeshops where you can buy weed legally doesnt mean the majority of people go there or smoke weed.
I don't understand the paranoia and hysterical response.....

Just watched the video, how shameful. As if they are herding the kids in off the sidewalks with people in clownsuits? Honestly people? Most dispensaries are blank nondescript buildings or relatively toned down. I'd be more worried about the bars and stripclubs honestly. God forbid our kids grow up seeing Cannabis in the proper light (regulated and medical) instead of demonized by the old school propaganda I had growing up.

For anyone who missed it, here's a link to watch the "hit piece" NBC 7/39 did on MMJ dispensaries last Friday ...

What pisses me off about NBC 7/39 is that I contacted one of their top reporters shortly after the raids, to suggest that they do a story about how the raids hurt the patients. The reporter contacted me and said he would run the idea past the station's news director. He also said it would be helpful if I would agree to appear on camera, should such a story happen - and I told him I would.

That's the last I heard from the reporter.

Then, on Friday, the story they went with was the "scary" "sensationalistic" one - how pot is invading our tranquil neighborhoods, threatening the well-being of little school children.

I plan to contact the General Manager of the station to complain about this!

When they had an opportunity to do a useful story about the human impact of these stupid raids, they instead, chose to take the easy route and run something that is negative and that further harms MMJ patients! (not to mention, a "ratings-grabber" during the November "sweeps" period!).
